Tucson Winter - (day 17)

1/6/14 (Monday) - Sunny and some wind, feel like 63

We have bacon with eggs and bread for breakfast. Then we add fresh water to our trailer's tank. I clean up the cat sandy box.

We were looking at the tree and want to find a tree in our land to relocate next to our trailer for more privacy. We find one that was small enough to dig it out and replant it. We feel hot and we have ice cream to cool us down. Next Tom wants to flatten the land for our future metal garage foundation. But before him going to do it, he wants to look for the old septic tank. He checks the paper work that was given by the city of Tucson. He dig one place to look for any tank, but couldn’t found any, he will try his luck tomorrow. Tom asks me to help him level the dirt ground. I have to drive less than one miles an hour back and fore while Tom is holding the home make ground scraper (make in KTC). We stop when the sun run down.

I went back inside the trailer to take a quick shower. After I was done, Tom take a shower too. We run out of paper towel and Tom need a sink strainer washer to fix our shower tub. First we run to Lowe’s to look for it and we find one for $1.99 and then we went to laundromat to wash our dirty clothes. (Nearby Safeway)

After I put the clothes in, we went to McDonald’s for dinner, I order File-O-Fish combo for $5.79 and Tom order BBQ Ranch Burger for $1 and strawberry sundae for $1.19. I finish my meal and went back to the Laundromat to load our clothes to the dryer. While I was waiting I went to the Family Dollar for paper towel and honey roasted peanuts. After that I went to Safeway for the french bread which we both love at $1.79/ea. Then I went back to pick up my clothes and folded them. I called Tom to drive to the front door and pick me up. We drove directly home. When we are watching TV, we found out tonight is very cold, temp drop down to 32 degree.

Tucson Winter - (day 16)

1/5/14 (Sunday) - Sunny today feel like 67

I let both cat out wandering in our land this morning, because they are going to take a bath this late afternoon. We have blueberry muffins for breakfast. I walk around the land again to look for trash, by using the picker.

Then I help Tom to put more shelves in our storage until 3:40 p.m. I walk back to the trailer and start making lunch. We have steak with lettuce and bread and ice tea for lunch. We stop work around 5 p.m. then Tom took Odie and Ben Jr. for a shower before we went out to eat. While Tom inside with the Odie, I notice that water is leaking around the tub. I told Tom and he told me to use the towel to soak up the water. After Tom done with both cat and himself, he tries to find out why the water leaking out. He has me open up the board beside the tub; he notices that some water is still inside. He used the towel to soak up the water. He needs channel locker to fix the leaking, but we don’t have one with us. We need to go to Lowe’s to get one. Since we are hungry, we were looking for food to eat.

As we passed the Safeway parking lot, we both see a taco store (Rodolfo’s location W. Valencia Rd.) on the corner, Tom turn around and park. I walked inside the taco place. I saw they have my favorite food, I order Chile Reanno combo for $6.95 and Tom is having chicken burrito combo with drink for $6.30 totals $14.06 for dinner. Then we went to Lowe’s, but when we arrived, we find out they are already closed. Next we went to Walmart to look for the channel locker. Tom find one for $8.47. I called my son while I was shopping, I told him that he needs to set timer to wake himself up, because he needs to walk to school and don’t forget to buy more food for himself.  I bought some ice cream, pizza, more chip, eggs, butter, and hair condition. We went home and Tom start fixing the tub, while I was watching TV and writing this journal.

Tucson Winter - (day 15)

1/4/14 (Saturday) - very cloudy today, no sun at all, feels like 62

Wake up around 10 a.m. and try to call my son to mail out the mail, but he did not answer the phone. I try again around noon, but still no one answer.   I walk outside and water my plant plus feeding the dog Woody. Then I came back to cook Oatmeal for breakfast. We clean up the trailer and fill the water tank in our trailer. I walk around the land to look for trash by using the picker. While Tom is digging another hole for our black tank, I make a new cover for it by cutting the left over felt to fit the new hole and cut a small hole closer to the hose.

Next we went inside the storage to put more shelves on the wall. We finish one side of the wall, we only put one shelf. When we switch to the other side, the table was on our way. We need to move it outside before we have room to move around. While we are outside, Tom told me to check the sewage water level, but I accidentally step my right foot into the dirty water. Tom has to help me wash up my foot, and then I walk inside the trailer and dry up. Since it is getting dark, we need more light, at first I use the flash light. But it is still too dark. We went outside and take the 60 watts LED Security Light and put on the shelf so we can see while we are working. By the time we are done it was passed 6 p.m..

We went back inside the trailer and we both took a quick shower. Since I need to buy Odie cat food, (cause Odie threw up two times last night) and the water in our tank is almost out. We decide to go out to eat too.

We first stop at the Walmart to buy cat food, cat litter, mouthwash. While I was shopping at Walmart, I phone Lawrence again, this time he answer the phone, I ask him “Did you mail the letters?”, he told me he did that two day ago. I told him that will be fine, and I told him he needs to finish his homework if he has any. Also I told him you need to walk to school since I will not be home until 1/10 or later.

Next thing Tom said why we don’t buy steak for tonight dinner. So I pick up lettuce and tomato.  Next we went to Safeway to look for the French bread, but they are totally out. On the way out I saw they have peanut cookies, and blueberry muffins, I pick both of them and went to the check out. Safeway only have one register open, so I have to wait for a while before my turn. Then Tom turns around and we went to Neighborhood Market to look for French bread and dressing. While I was at the bread area, I saw the cheesecake which looks petty good, so I buy it too. We went back to our trailer and cook for dinner.

Tucson Winter - (day 14)

1/3/14 (Friday) - warm and good weather feel like 70

We wake up around 10 a.m.; we did not want to cook any breakfast. We decide to have McDonald’s for breakfast, but we need to full up our water and the 5 and the 2 gallon gas tanks. Next thing we noticed that it was passed 11:00 a.m. it was too late to have breakfast at McDonald’s, so we are going for lunch instead.

Tom wants to go to check the Big O Tires price for his truck. We only need to drive less than a mile to 1815 W. Valencia, Tom walks inside the shop and come back telling me that this is the cheapest place to change both his front tires. It cost about $125 per tires and totals will be $322.49. We were inside the shop about 20 minutes and the tires were done and we were out the door before 1:15 p.m.

Next we stop by Neighborhood Market and I went inside to shop for stuff. I buy a lot of different things such as bananas, French bread, ½ gallon milk, cat food, 5 cans food, shampoo and conditioner, Jergens lotion, cinnamon Toast Crunch, big curls for my hair.

We went back to finish our job, we paint the top coat (light green) which we bought it at the Home Depot. Before we went to paint we have a lunch again. I fix up bread with pork chop we left over from last night dinner. Since I have some pork bone, I walk over and give it to Woody. We finish painting the whole storage before the sun went down. (before 6:00 p.m.)

We have wonton noodle with shrimp and veg. for dinner. I was watching TV with Tom and did not start writing this journal until passed 10:00 p.m.

Tucson Winter - (day 13)

1/2/14 (Thursday) - Windy today -15-20 mph cool in the morning and hot afternoon

We have Raisin Bran with milk for breakfast. Since it was a windy today, we did not go outside until the wind die down. (In the afternoon) before we go outside we have the left over food for lunch. Then we put the 60 LED Security Light next to our trailer, so next time when we come home at night we don’t need flash light.

Next we paint the shed using the primer we bought last time we were here. It took us about three hours to finish the job. By the time we are done, it was already passed 6:00 p.m., then Tom washing the roller holder and the paint pan while I was holding the water. We went back inside the trailer and I prepared my cooking and Tom went in for a shower.  After I put all the food together, Tom finishes his shower. I poke some holes in the potatoes and put in the microwave for cooking.  That will shorten the cooking time for the potatoes, which I lean that in You Tube. Then I went in for a shower, after I am done, I start cooking my pork chop with the frying pan. Also I chop off some onion to put with the pork chop. I open a can of yellow corn and put into a small pot for cooking. While I am waiting for the food, I mix myself a margarita drink. After all the food was done, I sit down and have a nice dinner. Then I wash all my dishes and watch TV for a while before I start writing my journal.

Tucson Winter - (day 12)

1/1/14(Wednesday) - (sunny and feel like 66)

We have bacon with eggs and ham for breakfast. Before we want to paint our storage, we found out that we did not have any tray to hold the paint plus we also need the top coat paint.  So we went to Home Depot, we bought 9 inch tray set for $7.97 and two gallon green paint for $21.96/ea (Glidden Prem Flat). While we were waiting for the paint to be ready, we were looking for board with small hole for hanging tools. But the price is high, cost $7.80/ea, so we decide not to buy it.

Next thing I remember today is Jan. 1, Harbor Freight has sales, and I can use the 25% coupon. We drove to Harbor Freight and we buy 60 LED Security Light and a 12V utility pump.

After we got out, I told Tom that I need to go to the Neighborhood Market (by Walmart), I found several items to buy (such as ½ milk, banana for $.40/lb, and Chocolate), but the line is too long. So I decide to buy it later. At first I want Tom to stop by another Neighborhood Market close to our land, but Tom said we are on highway 10 and are not pass by the Neighborhood Market. Therefore we just drove home and have a left over for dinner.

Tucson Winter - (day 11)

12/31/13 (Tuesday) (Warm free like 68)

We are putting second foundation coating on top of the roof, it does not take long this time, since Tom pour the coating on the felt and then roll to spread it. Tom only use less than ½ hour to apply the coating.

Then we went to fill up the truck (cost $3.049/gallon – 13.63/gallon -- total $41.55) and both gas tans (cost $3.049/gallon – 6.45/gallon – total $22.52), plus both propane tans (cost $2.99/per gallon—Total $23.80)We went back to our land and put the propane tanks back on the trailer and put both small gas tanks next to the propane tanks. Next Tom washes both cats before we went to shopping. I told Tom I want to go to the mall. So Tom took me to Tucson Mall, but by the time we get there the mall is already closed. We found out they closed at 6:00 p.m., because it was the New Year eve. Most shop closed early today, so we look for food to eat, we drove for about cover miles. We even drive passed Tom's house in Tucson.

Next we ate at the Hibachi Super Buffet at the Speedway Blvd. it cost $10.49/per person. They have good food, but I found out that most of the food when they are gone, it will not refill it back. So next time we need to be there early. After the buffet, I told Tom I want to walk around the store, since I am still full, I want to walk around. But Tom is missing the exit, we end up coming back home and watch TV.

Tucson Winter - (day 10)

12/30/13 (Monday) - (Cold in early morning, but warm around 10:00a.m.)

We were working on our storage shelf instead of the roof. Since we need to organize our mess inside the storage, we want to put up shelf. Also Tom wants the roof black foundation coating completely dry before he is going to apply the second coating.

It took us the whole afternoon to finish some of the shelf. We were hungry when we are only half way done. We eat the eggroll that was left over from last night dinner. Plus I eat some of the tortilla chips and Tom eats some of the potatoes chips for lunch. After we finish our lunch, we went back to work, until we are able to put most of our stuff in order.

We need to go out again, since we have a lot of dirty clothes need to be wash; need to fill up our 5 gallon water; Tom wants to check out the price for his tire. When we are inside the Costco, we walked to the tire area; there were several people in front of us, so we decide to shop first. I found a 3 pk storage for only $12.79 which I want to use it for cat sandy box. Also I buy Margarita mix 2 for $6.99; Rotisserie (chicken) and dried Mango for $13.99. When I was checking out, Tom went back to the tire area to check on the price. But when I got there, he still was waiting for someone to help him. So I went to get a hot dog with soda and Yogurt for dinner and Tom was eating the chicken for dinner. Tom told me for 2 tires they will cost him $359, so we decide to look for other tire store.  We stop by the water kiosk for $.25/gallon before we wash our clothes. After we are done washing our clothes it was passed 10:20 p.m. then we drive back to our land. While we were watching TV, I was writing this journal until passed 1:00 a.m. in the morning.
