Southern CA (Day 3) - Joshua Tree

12/23/11   (Fri)

Today the weather was better(less wind).  We saw the park ranger drove by our site when we were outside unhooking the trailer.  Before we went hiking I put $10 in the envelope and drop it off to the depository.

1st we hiked the Skull Rock, it was around 2 miles round trip.

2nd we hiked Barker Dam 1.3 miles.

On the same trail is evidence of the earlier Indian inhabitants of the Joshua Tree area. Unfortunately, these petroglyphs were defaced by a movie crew that painted over them in order to make them more visible to the cameras. They're now known as the "Disney Petroglyphs."

3rd we got lost to Wall Street Mill (we spent almost 2 hours) but we still could not found the place.

At the end we drove up to Key view (it was very cold and windy).  Then we went back to our trailer to eat and sleep for the night.
