Tucson Winter Trip - (Day 14)- Moved to Aldon

12/31/12 (Monday)

We got up around 10 a.m., since Odie was throwing up in our bed early morning (7 a.m.) While I made breakfast (French toast), Tom is showering both cats. I have to wash the bed sheet and all the cats’ towel. After I finished eating, I put all the stuff back. I went outside and cleaned up the cat box, and then I went to take a quick shower. After shower I went back to put the sheet and towels on the dryer. (the wash cost $1.50 and the dryer cost $1.25). Tom received a phone call from Yetive (Coldwell Banker). He told Tom that the bank agreed with the amount we offered ($10,000) but some disclosures needed to be changed. We needed to meet next day and looked at the paperwork, we will meet Yetive at her office at 11:00 a.m. We continued to clean up the trailer and Tom ready to tow our trailer to the land we just about to buy from the bank. It is located at South Aldon Road (.91 Acres) and sold as is. Tom was ready to take a gamble; he said that since the money in the bank has no interest anyway. Why don’t we buy the land and wait for the land to rise in price.

We arrived at the land and set up our trailer. I told Tom that I don’t want to cook for tonight. We went out to eat at Chickenuevo, but we found out the store was closed already.  So we have to look for something else to eat. We finally decided to Papa John’s Pizza to go (for one topping cost $10 plus tax = $10.91) with one topping Bacon. While driving back we started eating the pizza, which tasted pretty good. We went back to our trailer and watching TV while eating the salad and pizza. We went to bed with very cold weather (around 32 degree); we need to turn on our trailer heater over night.

Tucson Winter Trip - (Day 13) - Last day in Desert Trail RV park

12/30/12 (Sunday)

Today was our last night in RV Park. We tried to clean up the trailer ahead of time.  I wanted to take a morning shower, but I was too busy cooking breakfast (bacon and eggs with roll).  Therefore, I changed my mine and go later.

Before we are moving to the nearby casino, we needed to fill up our water tank and propane tank today. We drove by the adobe style houses I have been wanting to see. It was nothing special. So Tom drove to the Old Ajo Highway closed to the Tucson city limit. We did not see any open house, so we continued to drive around the city to look for propane station. We found the U-Haul for propane, but the cost was higher ($3.59/per gallon). So we did not fill it there. We continued driving to look for cheaper price. We found Circle K in Alvernon and E. 22nd street, the price was $3.15/per gallon plus tax. I had my propane tank fill up there. (It was partially full only need 3 gallons) We drove through the Tucson downtown, but there was nothing interesting to see.  Most of the stores were closed on Sunday.

We drove back to the RV Park.  Before I started cooking dinner ( we have BBQ and squish), I went to took a shower. During our dinner, we hear the rain drop.  The rain stopped for a while then rain again. After I finished cleaning all the dishes, Tom went to take a shower too.  I watch some DVDs from the RV park, but so far the movies were not good.  While we watched TV, we found out the next couple of days will be cold. Monday morning is going to be 50 degree and low will be 38, Tuesday high 50 and low 30 degree, which would be the worst day for us.

Tucson Winter trip - (Day 12) - Titan Missile Museum

12/29/12 (Saturday)

Today was sunny and felt warmer that the last two days. Yetive (Coldwell Banker) called Tom in the morning letting him know that the bank is going to check the septic tank, she said the bank will give us an answer on Monday.

Tom wanted me to ask the campground office see if we able to leave today and come back on next Tuesday. When I talked to the office lady on our idea, the lady told me we can not split our week. She can only give us a $25 dollars refund (165 / 6 days and one night is free for 7 days stay) and when we come back the cost will be $28 a night. I left the office and called Tom about what did the office lady told me.  Tom told me to come back to the trailer and we decided to continue to stay here.

Tom look for a place to visit, he find the Titan Missile Museum about 20 miles from the RV Park. I make the Ham with Elbows Macaroni, after we finish and cleaning the dishes. Tom drove to the Titan Missile Museum. At first we walked around the gift shop and then we join the tours for $9.50/per person. We took many pictures when we were inside the building. The tours guy named Jim and he told us about the Titan II and it last about an hours. We went back inside the gift shop and I bought the Rocket Pen and Space Rocket Poster.

After that we were hungry and looked for place to eat. We found a place called El Taco Tote on Valencia near Tom old workplace. I ordered Combo Fish for $6.99 and a Fajita Burro tote for $4.99.  While we were waiting for the food, I found out that the chips is free. I got myself cover small paper bowl. Since we atr so many chips we could not finish our food, so we brought it back to our trailer. I don’t want to come back to the trailer early, so Tom drove around the city and we were looking for place to shop or whatver is available. But we could not find any thing we interested, so we went back home and watch TV. While Tom was watching TV, I went to take a shower and then came back to start writing this journal.

Tucson Winter Trip - (Day 11) - Visited Tomestone

12/28/12 (Friday)

I got up around 10 a.m. this morning. I told Tom that I will make breakfast after coming back from the shower. When I come back Tom was cleaning up the trailer and I started making French bread and coffee for breakfast.  After I cleaned up the dishes, I went to return the DVD to the park library.  Then I went to the Oasis room to get some free ice to bring back to our trailer. When I came back Tom told me we will go to the Tombstone.  It about an hour from Tucson, when we get there it was past 3:00 p.m. We saw a gun fight starting on the street, but they were only the beginning of the show. We needed to pay to see the whole gun show. We decided not to see it, so we walked around the town and took several pictures of the old town. We walked into one old building named Bird Cage Theater. We paid $10/ea to go inside and look around the old theater.

We drove back to Tucson and looking for food to eat, we find a Chickenuevo (location 670 W. Valencia Rd) their chicken is good and we like the corn and flour tortilla. After that Tom takes me to the Bookmans bookstore, we walked inside and I saw they sell not only books. They also sell DVD, games, kitchen ware and musical instrument.  I saw a book I like named WhyDon’t Cats like to swim? (Used book cost $6.50). Then we drove back to the RV Park. It was a cold night (temperture is about 35 degree)
