Oregon Coast summer trip - (Day 14) - Brookings and Lucky 7 Casino

7/20/12 (Friday)

We had bacon and eggs with French bread for breakfast.  We did not finish packing up the trailer until 2:00 p.m. which was already passed the check out time which was 1:00p.m. A ranger came asking if we are ready to leave yet.  We left the site and went to take a shower in the center of loop B which is the only one that had some parking spacing next to the shower place.  We took turn for shower, but I went in first.

Tom stopped at the Orford for ocean views.

We took a lot of pictures and Tom talked to one young couples from Austin Texas.  While we were there I feed the seagull with the chip and cracker.

Tom wants to stopped and visited some beach, but I wanted to go to Brookings earlier. So we only stopped briefly to take picture of he southern Oregon coast.

We went to Fred Meyer and bought BBQ chip; Iron on Patchettes for the jean, and Roast Beef.  We filled up our gas at the Fred Meyer gas station, it was $3.66/gallon, but since I had the reward card with every 100 points you got 10 cent less.  So I only need to paid 3.56/gallon. We went to fill up our propane in Chevron station; the price dropped from $1.89 to $1.49 within 10 days.  Next we went to Grocery Outlet to buy more supplies.  We were looking for the Tequila for margarita, but none of the store has it, such as Fred Meyer, Grocery Outlet and Shop Smart.  We were kind of surprise that regular store does not have it.

Next we went to fish cleaning station at the pier to look for crab baits.  We were very lucky that there were two boats in front of the station. A lot of people inside cleaning the fish. I went inside and took two buckets of left over.  While I was picking, somebody left a whole fish on the floor.  I just put it in my bucket and back to the Truck.  We went to the boat washing area to fill up our fresh water tank for thinking to spend the night here. Tom drove to Beach Front RV Park to look for a place to stay over.  When we were there we found out that they are having a kite Festival, the entire RV site were full.  A lady on a gold cart told us we could stay for few minutes to watch the ocean. So we hurried up to clean the fish, first we cut up the whole fish to make sushi. The knife was not very sharp so barely made it but didn't look very good. Then we cleaned and cut the left-over into 2 half, separate the head from the tail. They were big fishes. We only did 2 and threw the rest of the left-over fishes back into the sea later. There was a golf cart keep coming over to tell  us we needed to leave soon.  The first guy come over to tell us we need to leave within 15 minutes.  Later on two guys come over and tell us we needed to leave NOW. It was 10pm and we had just finished cleaning the fish. So we stowed up and drove away form the parking lot to the pier on the other side by the boat washing again to release some fresh water, because we planed to drive to Elk Casino in Cresent City, less water is less weight.  The drain were close by so we released the grey water too.  On the way to Elk casino we saw the Lucky 7 Casino on 101 less than 10 miles from Brookings.  So we drove behind to park and went inside the casino to ask to spend the night. No registered needed and Mel also joined the club. But this place has no free gamble money, they have all kind of free drink though.  We moved our trailer to the second parking lot on the side. We searched and found no TV reception. We ate our sushi and spent a night there. We were surprised the free fish we got was very good for sushi.
